Isaac Zivaku - Demon-Blooded Hunter Empty Isaac Zivaku - Demon-Blooded Hunter

Post by Gregzilla Wed Dec 04, 2019 11:50 am

    World of Origin: Niflheim, Aselia

    Name: Isaac Zivaku

    Age: 27

    Gender: Male

    Species: Humanoid Demon

Appearance: Ashen grey hair and green eyes with a reptilian slit for pupils, the sclera turning red when he increases the potency of his curses. His fair skin is seriously scarred along its back, with some deeper cuts appearing to be sigils of some sort, including two eyes, one on each shoulder blade. He also has several cuts on each palm and up the arms from the use of his weapon, along with some "rusted blood" brown scaly texture to the forearms, akin to a dragon's scales, denoting him as a demon with blood of a draconic being (to those who may notice).

For clothing, he wears a sleeveless brown shirt and darker brown jacket reaching down to about halfway down his legs to his knees, with armored pauldrons on the shoulders, and a pair of armored black greaves for shoes, along with dark brown pants. There is a brown bandolier over his right shoulder down to his left hip on which he carries a selection of vials, which attaches to a belt that has more along his waist, mostly on his hips. On his head, he generally has a pair of mirrored black goggles.

When utilizing his Butcher Form, a tail extends behind him, dark brown and draconic-looking, and capable of being used as a fifth limb, along with his teeth becoming much sharper. His fingers sharpen into claws, and black markings work their way along his face and torso, similar to those of therions of Desolation.

If someone cuts him, his normal blood is black and exceptionally cold, and crackles with dark energy if used with magic directly, and has a direct connection to nether and hellish entities.

Personality: Aside from his near-constant smirk, Isaac is, at his core, what some would call a high-functioning sociopath. He is rather egocentric, focused primarily on his own wellbeing. He has an impaired ability to be empathetic, to the point of not caring about, or at worst being callous about, others being hurt except where it impairs himself, and being reluctant to apologize for any of his behavior. He is manipulative, and routinely lies about his past, to the point that few know any of it as true. That said, he is also capable of fostering close connections with others, or at least appearing to do so, through justifying prosocial behavior as beneficial to himself in the long run (gaining allies, et cetera). In terms of commonly seen benevolent behaviors, he is essentially a moral pragmatist on top of his sociopathy. He is willing to ally with the side of "good" if it is more efficient to achieve what he wants, but is likely to perform actions that are seen as "bad" to achieve those goals first if they are more practical. His overall goals may seem to be "good" (for example, getting rid of monsters), but the means by which he achieves them are oftentimes not seen in a positive light, even if ignoring his common appearance of being covered in blood or a blood substitute.

Outside of that, he will admit to being a liar when caught out if he has no other options, and the sole concept he is willing to tell is his most commonly assumed name. In his personal mantra, "Never trust the truth. The truth is vicious. The truth thinks you owe it something." He is rather intelligent when it comes to working with people, insofar as his disorder allows, to the point of it helping him with his profession. One thing can be trusted above the rest: he knows what he's doing.

Despite his condition, Isaac is not immune to emotional reactions. He can be angered by people who know what he is like demanding he do things to help others for its own sake, rather than because it has something to benefit him. If pressed about his history, especially by those who knew him before he lost his memories (however many times that had been), he can be unnerved, and even severely irritated if treated as if he were that person still, despite feeling that he is more a completely new individual that happens to have the same body.

He detests those who refuse to own up to what they do. As he sees it, everyone is selfish or otherwise awful, and an unwillingness to take responsibility when pressed makes someone weak and pathetic. If others believe he is hypocritical, he notes that while he does lie, he does not believe any of them, and is willing to drop the ruse without complaint if called out beyond reproach. He knows who he is, or at least who he has made himself out to be, and expects the same of others.

When it comes to his work as a hunter, Isaac does not hold animosity toward the creatures in particular (or not any more than for anyone else), and sees his work as just a job he does, albeit one he is particularly geared toward. As such, he won't go on a hunt for the sake of someone's prejudice, but he may be intensely brutal toward one that attacks him first. However, in combat itself, he is ferocious and savage, often dealing grievous injuries beyond what is necessary.

Due to whatever it was that gave him his powers, it is especially difficult to scare him. Furthermore, when he speaks, he generally uses a flat affect, resulting in a rather monotone voice in most instances.

With regards to his history, he does not care who he used to be in the past, and makes that readily apparent if people ever do find out about him, preferring to see that person as dead and not to be burdened with any of that person's regrets or tasks, at times even angry if forced to address them. Similarly, he doesn't care about others' histories except where it is involved with his own hunts.

When it comes to his brother Greg, he considers himself the other man's shadow, the opposite to him in many ways, but does not define himself by that either.

    Powers:
    - Limited Hemomancy: Through varied arcane means connected to something otherworldly, Isaac has powers similar to those of a blood hunter. His prey ranges to things that include werebeasts, spirits, vampires, fae, demons, celestial beings, and more. In its purest form, this power is a relatively low-key version of blood manipulation that has the detriment of also causing significant harm to himself. This power set is not a natural magic type for him, but gained through other means. While he can use his powers without being hurt by others, they are amplified through injury to his own body, with his more powerful abilities usually accessible when he is in the greatest amounts of danger. This power set can be initially activated by damage to himself from an enemy or, in more limited capacities, from himself, such as a cut on his hands. The power of his magic is proportionate to the amount of damage he has sustained, with being on the verge of unconsciousness from blood loss meaning he is much stronger than when he has merely gotten a bloody nose, and so forth.

-- Blood Anathema: After being hit by a certain type of species, his blood morphs into a substance that acts as a bane to that creature type, such as silver for werebeasts, an anti-magical substance for people of a magical species, sunlight infusion for various vampires, lightning, fire, ice, light, a glowing iridescence of psychic power, blackened tendrils of necrotic energy, sonic energy, or others. He can coat his weapon with this substance to have added damage to that particular being type. The main limitation is that he cannot imitate divine power, and he still maintains the damage sustained when he coated his weapon (involving cutting his own body if need be), until they are released from his grasp. Furthermore, the blood alteration lasts a minimum of one hour, making him have difficulty with facing more than one type of creature at once.

-- Sanguine Brand: The user brands the target with a touch, most commonly by hand, which acts as a mystical tracker even when they leave his sight, though it can only work on one person at a time, and cannot operate between worlds. The brand itself does not deal damage by itself, but is seared into their flesh through hemocrafting nonetheless.
--- Sapping Scar:  If concentrated, this brand can dig deeper into their mystical senses, increasing vulnerability to other magic, poisoning them, and can dispel illusions (such as invisibility or others) on contact, though not any cast afterwards.
--- Castigate: If touching a target, he can concentrate on them and force them to begin to bleed from any opening, including orifices or wounds, profusely until he stops that concentration. Those who are struck feel intense pain in their minds as well, with all effects far worse if he is touching their brand. The main downside is that he cannot use this and keep his focus on other things at the same time, making it far less versatile than curses, though perhaps more potent. As such, he is more likely to use this technique only if they are already alone.[LOCKED]

-- Blood Curses: Can release a selection of curses upon others, at the expense of some bleeding himself (less than if he were hit, but added to it). In order to affect those who have no blood, requires additional damage to self to make up for that lack. He can also augment them, or "amplify" them, to cause more serious effects in either case, both of which causes further damage to himself. The blood from the curses on his part come out of the "eyes" on his back. Each of these are identified as "Blood Curse of" or "Blood Curse of the" as appropriate.

--- Purgation: Removal of toxins from a body. Used offensively, a deliberately unfocused version of this can cause the target to expel blood and suffer internal damage, often from the mouth or other orifices.

--- Debilitation: Can render a target temporarily blind or deaf by filling the orifice with blood. Lasts several seconds, up to a minute at most.

--- Binding: Harden blood inside of a target, possibly paralyzing specific areas of their body, cutting off their powers if they work through a kind of internal body flow (such as chi), and, if focused, creating small shards of crystallized blood that can cause internal damage.

--- Anxiety: Magnify the adrenaline in the body of a creature, making them susceptible to forceful influence by intimidation.[LOCKED]

--- Bloated Agony: Target swells painfully and suffers from internal, damaging necrosis if they attempt to attack for one minute at most, with an effect akin to "poison" damage. If focused, it can cause the target to have part of them begin to decay, a if outright necrotized over time.[LOCKED]

--- Exorcism: Target is freed from an external effect, primarily of a magical or psychic nature, including being charmed to someone's side, frightened of them, or, most commonly, possessed by a spirit, most commonly a weaker one.[LOCKED]

--- Mutual Suffering: Shares the damage dealt to himself with a target, most often the one who harmed him.[LOCKED]

--- Spell Sunder: Can divert a spell aimed at him away from his body, though not at anyone else in particular.[LOCKED]

--- Muddled Mind: Can confuse a target, disrupting their concentration on a task such as a spell or something else, or otherwise rendering them helpless.[LOCKED]

--- Fallen Puppet: Can manipulate a newly dead or unconscious being for a single aggressive action, ushering their soul away to an unknown location affiliated with the being his power comes from. At the same time, his own speed and strength are momentarily increased if still in combat.[LOCKED]

--- Consumed Soul: Once dealt with (aside from unconsciousness or mere nonlethal defeat), usher the soul of the defeated off to another plane, gaining power from it. The soul goes off to the being from which he gained his powers, though he is not personally aware from the onset. Does not work on soulless beings.[LOCKED]

-- Crimson Bond: Can use blood spilt by another, drawn out of their bodies in some form, to track them through mystical means, though the closest the track can go is to a specific world (or planet within the world if it is a multi-planet franchise). The blood cannot be more than a few minutes old by the time he first collects it. Most of this tracking is done from ritualistically prepared areas, meaning that it is primarily done from his ship.[LOCKED]

-- Reaving Absorption: Can absorb blood fallen from a battlefield, so long as it is relatively fresh (still wet). Doing so replenishes his health, but also decreases the effectiveness of his curses. The longer he does this in battle, the more brutally and bloodily he will attack.[LOCKED]

-- Blood Occultism: Isaac is skilled with blood-based magics, but not enough to use in direct combat, instead using them for research such as hemokinesis, viewing memories through a certain individual's blood, and more. However, without a powered form, he requires enough time and preparation for the appropriate settings to do so.

-- Butcher Form: As a powered form, he can take on the full measure of blood magic, at the expense of constantly losing health himself while it is active. Uses include throwing blood at others to deal damage or heal himself, conjuring temporary constructs of blood, wracking targets with pain by manipulating the life-giving fluids within their bodies at a distance, telekinetic control over blood and blood substitutes (including removing it from someone), crystallize blood in place to paralyze someone, or causing blood to boil within a body (either causing damage on its own or driving them to rage and madness). If focused and in direct contact with a source of blood, he can also change its properties, such as making it poisonous (harming a person), healing-based, or a variety of other properties. Most notably, in this form he is capable of actually directly healing individuals by transferring health from one source to another.[LOCKED]
--- Butcher Claw: In this state only, Isaac can strike with the claws on his hands, injecting his poisonous blood into their body to either cause damage normally, or, at will, detonate said substance from within (dealing damage to himself as well).[LOCKED]
--- Bloodcurdling Howl: In this form, Isaac can let out a rage-filled howl, akin to a wild beast, imposing intense fear or even stunning all creatures in a mid-sized distance of himself, unless they are immune to fear.[LOCKED]

    - Parasitic Dark Magic: As with many demons of his world, Isaac cannot directly use mana, as it is toxic to him. Instead, he is capable of utilizing magic spells from others by using pieces of them gleaned from his alchemy or other rituals (such as the use of fire breathing or hardened skin by use of a piece of a dragon). This type of magic is connected in some ways to necromancy, especially of the infernal variety. For reasons connected to his amnesia, he is unable to remember how to use this special type of magic for the time being.[LOCKED]

    Abilities:
    - Alchemy: Very knowledgable in the creation of potions of various sorts for the purpose of hunting various creatures, including which substances are anathema to which entities. On some level, this expertise approaches or even enters into sacrificially-based magic, using the life force of magical beings to one effect or another. However, he only is capable of such things in conjunction with his blood-based occultism, and it primarily is a result of having a negative response to mana in and of himself.

    - Bioengineering: Creation of bioengineered items, including cursed weapons, living tools, organic prosthetics, and more. These are typically made from the types of creatures he hunts.

    - Creature Expertise: Is very knowledgeable in the ways of various monstrous beings, or at least their most common characteristics and habits.

    - Contagion Resistance: Due to the substances that regularly flow through his body, Isaac is highly resilient against poison, and has more limited resistance against acid (though that does hurt him more).

    - Enhanced Speed: Due to the treatments he has undergone, Isaac is faster than most people, though it is mostly in reference to non-powered individuals.

    - Tracking: Is capable of tracking a target for long distances.

    Weapons:
    - Scion: A whip-sword with a channel along its length to allow for fluid to hold within it, along with a switch inside that lets it switch between sword and whip formations at will, but not at random. The weapon is a dark brown, nearly black, and appears to writhe when not in use, as if it is actually alive, like a tentacle more than a blade. There is a violet stone in the pommel that looks akin to an eye, and seems to even blink at times when out of sight. This weapon is tied to his soul, and must be summoned to his hand, which it does in a crackle of black, necrotic energy that gives off a momentary faint sense of rot to those who know the smell of death. It can be used to absorb lost blood near to it, particularly if Isaac focuses on it. If viewed for its history, the weapon is truly ancient, with some kind of connection beyond land, beyond sea, into something truly outside of mortal comprehension on some level. As his powers change, the weapon is prone to evolve, as an extension and representation of his powers themselves.

    Equipment:
    - Hunting Potions: A variety of different potions that grant temporary augmentations of his abilities (senses, strength, speed, et cetera), taken from a variety of different monsters. These are gained over time and each have side effects.
-- Neutralizer: This potion neutralizes Isaac's blood, both deactivating his powers (until he is next hit) and making it possible for him to take on a different property for said substance in less than the hour-long wait he usually would have.

    - Hunter Technologies: A variety of inventions from elements taken off of his hunts, including thaumatechnological and necrografted technologies.[LOCKED]

    - Laboratory: Located on his ship, this place enables him to grow his bio-organic technologies, as well as a section for him to craft his potions.

    - Blood Map: A map in his ship that allows him to connect blood samples he has acquired and replicated along with his own blood to locate specific worlds on which someone is located, used in conjunction with his "Crimson Bond" skill.[LOCKED]

Awareness: Other Worlds, but not Games

History: As Martel formed into a Summon Spirit on the combined Aselia, the being who took to calling himself "Isaac" Zivaku was one of those who was accidentally formed as an offshoot of her power, the darker half of the magic exuded, landing and forming in the demonic, mana-toxic realm of Niflheim. How exactly Isaac came across his powers is a mystery to many, especially since his natural magic affinity toward necromantic arts and other infernal techniques was annihilated by his emergence in that place. Even his name is a fiction he came up with, taken from one he had heard at one point, with his true name untold to any others. Every time he tells the story to someone new, he tells it differently, to the point of even implying that his powers come from his sword and require him to pray over them, among many other options. What is known by those who know anything about it that is in fact true is that he, on leaving Niflheim by the skin of his teeth, he made a pact with some form of eldritch being, resulting in his state. Ingesting a particular combination of concoctions did the rest, turning him into a magical mutant. However, save for the gaze of the being and some vague impressions of Niflheim, all of this is just hearsay to him, with him not even remembering his own name and having taken on a new one as a common alias. Everything else is barely even a memory, whatever happened in that area wiping out whatever he once knew. In all, there is a sequence of more than a decade that he simply does not remember (including certain elements about how he obtained his powers), and does not care to find out about.

However, he hides this truth well enough through his nearly impenetrable wall of lies that nothing is certain, and even he isn’t completely sure which combination of elixirs will make someone like him.

Hobbies: Working in his laboratory, messing with others.
