Her main outfit, the one she wears most of the time since her training under Ryu Hayabusa is more reminiscent of modern special ops, consisting of a light black bodysuit with the armor, the light variant that allows her to move more flexibly. But the mask that covers her mouth, tabi boots and shin/forearm guards are more reminiscent of traditional ninjas The design of her armor is more similar to the one used by her fellow ninja, Ayane, part of the armor being dark red and black and with a hood on.
Due to her ritual, which she performed in an attempt to distract the Greater Fiend Doku, her eyes, which used to be light-green, are now permanently red. Mary does have a set of civilian clothes for times where her main outfit would just bring too much attention. During such times, she wears a leather jacket over a sleeveless bluish-black shirt, her tanto hidden under her shirt while a pair of kunai knives are hidden in her sleeves. A red scarf tied to her neck, black armlets, red fingerless gloves, and a simple belt over bluish-black cargo pants, some of her kunai knives and shuriken hidden right underneath. And black padded boots.
Personality: There was a time when Mary used to be cheerful and outgoing. But even before the Convergence, she possesses some envy and jealousy over people who are noticed by others in some sense, especially her brother who always got off easy from a lot of things he did in her eyes. But after her time in the Ninja Gaiden universe, she has become more distant and serious, speaking to people politely and treating them well while keeping them apart from her. She's also blunt, preferring to say things are how it is instead of sugar coating words. Mary also gets easily flustered when embarrassed or caught off-guard, mostly because due to her training, she had forgotten how to act socially around people. She has a tendency to punch people when angry or they worry her.
Powers: Mary possesses Smoke Magic. She had obtained it after performing a ritual that was disrupted during her attempt to distract the Greater Fiend and sent out of the Ninja Gaiden universe as a result. Her magic works on the basis that if used for too long, her body would start burning from overuse.

-Scorching Embers: Offensive spell: A smoke cloud heavy with live embers, deals minor fire damage to target.

-Dioxide(Locked): Offensive spell: forms a cloud of smoke around a targets head for a short time, making breathing difficult.
-Incense(Locked): Restoring spell: scented smoke stimulates the mind to restore magic power.
-Powder(Locked): Offensive spell: Concentrated ash that will explode when mixed with heat is summoned in varying densities.
-Monoxide(Locked): Offensive spell: Level up of Dioxide; creates a poisonous cloud of smoke around a target, making breathing extremely difficult and draining their health for a short time.
-Flashover(Locked): Offensive Spell: Level up of Scorching Embers; the caster has to concentrate for a minute, but any and all smoke they create immediately flashes into flames. High friendly and self fire.
Abilities: Mary trained in the skills of a ninja since she first arrived in the Ninja Gaiden universe. Under Ryu's tutelage, she had learned the arts of stealth and silent assassination. To complement her skills, she learned how to fight with a katana (despite not owning one at the moment), how to fight with a tanto (also useful for silent skills) and close quarter combat (which more resembles the Arkham City fighting style, including the silent takedowns except it's more inclined to be lethal).
Weapons: Mary's main weapon is a 15 cm. tanto with a black sheath and hilt, given to her at the end of her training, which she now calls Kemuri, which is Japanese for Smoke. She also carries a complement of shuriken and kunai knives on her person, some of them hidden out of view.
Equipment: Only her diary, Nintendo Switch with a portable charger and Triforce necklace.
History: Mary was born around two years after her brother Louis. She was the first girl of her parents and lived a normal life. At the age of 8, she moved with her family when her parents rented a new property in Georgia. Unlike her brother, Mary proved to be more social, made friends and played with the kids. She also enjoyed visiting her grandparents, just like Louis. But the happy times soon came to an end, for before Louis' 14th birthday, her grandfather became ill. A few days later, he passed away. Mary was affected by his but not as much as her brother. She had tried to assure him it wasn't his fault nor there was anything that he could've done. But this soon caused a strain in their relationship as the two became prone to arguing, mostly caused by Louis.
The arguments would soon become a fight every single time. It got to the point the two would hit each other. And there it began to happen. While the two of them would always be scolded, Louis always got off easy compared to herself. Whereas Louis always did something wrong and simply got sent to his room for it, she was always grounded if the same thing happened to her, longer than him. And also, while she did get praised, Louis would get their attention more. Mary soon began to feel jealous of her brother and also depressed since she was convinced that as the younger sibling, she just wasn't important to her parents compared to her brother. By the age of 14, her family moved to South Carolina because they believed everyone needed a change of scenery. Mary got adapted to it faster than Louis but still felt unsure of herself.
That was until she and Louis met 9 other classmates in the same classroom. Soon, one of them began to talk about a car accident he had been involved in. then one by one, each of them confessed a trauma of their own. Mary frowned when she finally learned what Louis' trouble was and began to confess how she felt unloved to other people compared to her brother. Sadly, once she was done, Mary realized her brother was already gone. Out of the others, he was the only one who was still unaware of her own trauma. Still, since his mood got better since that day, Mary also got better but still burying her own fears from her brother. For the next two years, she and Louis hung out with the other nine students.
They even made a group and got nicknames. To them, Mary was Hod because she had this aura that one half of the group described as splendid while the other half simply claimed it was one of glory. Whatever the case, the rest of the group agreed Mary had an aura that made them feel at ease around her. But her family soon moved away back to Puerto Rico after Louis graduated at age 18. Transferring to another school, Mary was preparing for her first day of class which would be the next day. While she got her diary out, the Convergence then happened. With a shriek, Mary found herself in a forest, laid down on the ground. The next thing she knew, a tall stranger dressed in dark stared down at her. There was something familiar about the man but Mary was in too much a panic to notice. So when he asked her who she was and where did she come from,, Mary spilled the beans. As she finished explaining herself, she insisted that she was not insane.
To her relief, the man believed her and even invited her to his village. Soon, she realized who the man was, confirmed as he introduced himself as Ryu Hayabusa. He explained to Mary that through a vision he had that morning, he came to know of things he shouldn't had. He explains that she's from the Realm of Reality and she was transported to the Realm of Waking. He also tells her that sadly, she cannot stay in the village long since it was a ninja village. He did say that if she decided to become one, he'd train her since she wasn't the only person from the Realm of Reality to arrive at the Realm of Waking and that there would be those that would try to take advantage of her. He also added with amusement that Mary seemed to do her best not to be noticed. Despite frowning at that comment, Mary accepted Ryu's offer. And so she spent the next two years, training in Hayabusa village. She devoted herself fully to her training, believing she would be stuck there for who knows how long. One day, she was out on a scouting mission when she saw smoke rising in the direction of the village. Running back towards it, Mary found that the village had been in a raid and saw Ryu lying down on the ground, with very serious wounds.
But suddenly he woke up. Later on, she learned the raiders were from Vigoor and chose to follow Ryu instead of being behind. And so she participated in the events of Sigma, only taking a different route from Ryu, as per his orders. Up to when the Greater Fiend Doku who had also attacked the village back then had abducted Rachel. Mary chose to be the distraction while Alma and Ryu rescued Rachel. She managed to do well keeping up with Doku but was soon struck down, only for Ryu to join the battle and fight the Greater Fiend. Remembering her training, Mary tried using a ninpo spell for the first time in an attempt to paralyze Doku. but all that did was get the Greater Fiend's attention. She was hit by the attack, disrupting her ninpo spell but suddenly, it started to affect Mary. Her eyes closed and screaming, soon before losing consciousness.
When she woke up, Rachel was standing there and told her what happened. Ryu had killed Doku but not before being cursed to become a fiend. And that he'd gone ahead to deal with the rest of the fiends. Following Rachel, they managed to get to Ryu on time just to see him defeat the Vigoorian Emperor and recovering the Dark Dragon Sword. Once he was pulled to safety, the Dark Disciple appeared, claiming the Dark Dragon Sword from him. Revealed to be Murai, Ryu's uncle, he uses the power of the sword to become the Devil Incarnate. Ryu was isolated from the others but defeated Murai in the end, the latter falling down a pit. Destroying the Dark Dragon Blade, Ryu teleported away, Mary in tow.
Six months later, Mary was watching a spar between Ryu and a fellow kunoichi, Momiji.She chose to stay to help the latter pick flowers for Kureha's graves. Unfortunately, an attack from the Black Spider Clan caused the two to be separated, with Momiji captured. Mary managed to return to the village and explained to Ryu what happened. And so she joined him on his search, soon learning from Murasame of the Dark Dragonstones. Mary took a different path from Ryu, mostly to follow the Black Spider Clan but didn't get much information.
Soon enough, she managed to get a lead on their leader, who was in the Isle of Destiny. There, she ran into Ryu again but this time, joined the battle against the Black Spider Clan leader, Obaba. They were able to defeat the latter who told them where Momiji was in her death. With the Greater Fiend Ishtaros. Both of them returned to the village, but this time Ryu insisted Mary accompanied him. She accepted and they searched for the last two Dark Dragonstones. They finally found her at the gates of the underworld and were forced to fight Ishtaros first.
After his defeat, Nicchae tried to revive Vigoor but the power was sapped, causing both ninjas to fight his chaos, skeletal form instead. Once he was defeated, Nicchae tried to kill both of them. The two of them managed to kill her as well and Mary decided to watch over Momiji while Ryu fought against the Dark Dragon. After witnessing the heated battle, the three returned back to the village.
And six more months later, Mary herself got involved in the events of the Vampire War. Helping Ryu and his father deal with Crimson, she attempted to distract him using a ninpo, reminiscent of what she tried to do a year earlier with Doku. But this time, it manifested differently, creating a smokescreen that surprised it. It allowed Ryu's father to surprise it, leading to Ryu striking it down after having been weakened by the Eye of the Dragon the former was carrying. With that, the three of them returned to the village. There, Mary had obtained a summon of sorts from the old shopkeeper, Muramasa.
Meeting with him, he revealed that he found a way for Mary to leave Ryu's world. He explained that after the battle against the Vigoorian Emperor, Ryu asked him to find a way for her to leave once her training had finished. The summon meant that she was ready to go on her own and continue the fight in the name of the village and Ryu, her master. So he gave her a scroll and told her to read from it immediately. She did so and suddenly, her surroundings faded, soon replaced by a different setting. In front of her was the wizard, Merlin who was a bit surprised at Mary's appearance.
Apologizing, she explained everything that had happened to her. Merlin nodded and explained to her that he knew where she came from and that he could tell that she possessed a unique form of magic within her. Mary asked him what she should do now and Merlin simply told her that she could do whatever she wanted. But that if she wanted to leave Radiant Garden, she needed a Gummi ship. Fortunately for her, one was already available but it needed time to be ready. Mary bowed to Merlin and thanked him. Walking out of his house, she decided to get her bearings and begin her journey from here.
